After an intense whirlwind romance, Karrie Parker thought she had it all: a sexy husband, a loving family, a great career and a beautiful home.

Together they lived a life fit for royalty.

But when tragedy strikes, Karrie is devastated and left to face the consequences of her husband’s deepest, darkest secrets. Discovering the strength to carry on while making important, life-changing decisions, she finds herself desperate for answers. And holding the key to the puzzle is the one man she loathes immensely.

For up and coming motorcycle drag racer Tyler Strong, keeping painful secrets was never part of the plan. Racing motorcycles and winning was all he ever wanted to do. But when his best friend’s lies begin to unravel, Tyler is sent into a tailspin when he’s forced to come face to face with the one woman he vowed to stay away from. The woman he refuses to speak to, the woman he avoids, the woman he watches…from a distance.

As the truth becomes clear, will destiny bring these two unlikely souls together or tear them apart forever?

My Review

5 Stars!

I’d never read anything by L.M. Carr before this book, but she definitely has me as a fan now. She sucked me into this story from the start. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down!

“Sometimes you don’t see the beauty in something until you step back and look at it from a distance.”

I love a good second chance romance–From a Distance had a little bit of a twist on that. Instead of the usual hero/heroine rekindling a past romance, Carr gives us Tyler who longs for Karrie from afar while she despises him. It was angsty and ugly at times, but an absolutely beautiful ride to be on.

“His soul was looking for yours. He’s waiting for you to bring him back or let him go.”

Tyler Strong and Karrie Parker are two characters that will stick with me for a long time. Karrie was a sweet and sassy heroine who also ended up doing a lot of growing throughout the book. She was strong—the stuff her husband put her through is unimaginable, and I’m happy it didn’t completely break her in the end.

“I guess I should thank you then.”
“Thank me?” he questions humorously. “For what?”
Inhaling quietly, I muster the courage to confess. “For not being the person I thought you were.”
Dragging his eyes upward, he smiles and exhales. “Thank you for being the person I always knew you were.”

Tyler is a man who’s misunderstood. There were a few situations in the past where I wish he would have stood up for Karrie sooner, but I realize that was also part of their journey. He redeemed himself though. I adored the way he was with Karrie, and she certainly deserved someone who cared and loved her the way he did.

“For so long I watched you. For so long I wanted you. For so long I loved you, but always….always from a distance.”

From a Distance was full of emotion, drama, and the twists and turns kept me wanting more. It was heart wrenching at times—a few places absolutely broke me. However, it was a stunning story about a healing love coming from the most unlikely of places. A definite one-click worthy read!

About the Author

L.M. Carr, author of The Giving Trilogy, is a wife, a mom, an educator, a reader and a writer who lives in central Connecticut with her family and two dogs. When she’s not sitting at her computer writing, she loves to read or spend time with family and friends.

The idea for the trilogy formed in the summer of 2013 and wouldn’t leave her alone, until she picked up a pen and jotted the thoughts down. Before long, words flowed as the story began to unravel.

L.M. Carr is a lover of “Happily Ever Afters” because the world is filled with enough sadness. Reading is an escape in which anything is possible. But like in reality, stories sometimes take you on a journey through Hell before you can reach Heaven.

Follow along as we begin this journey together.
